The venue
A century of training teachers, a hall unchanged since the 1970s
For over 100 years, the Krakow Academy of Physical Education (AWF) has specialized in training teachers, coaches, and physiotherapists. Its multi-sport hall is the largest sports facility on campus, hosting crowds of up to 500 spectators. Beyond daily teaching, the hall stages volleyball, handball, basketball, and soccer matches for local teams.
The hall had seen no major renovation since the 1970s, so a comprehensive modernization was required to meet modern safety regulations and the needs of its users. The sound system formed a critical part of the upgrade. Integrator Shadock AV turned to Polish Electro-Voice and Dynacord partner Audio Plus to find the best equipment for the space.

The challenge
One system for teaching, top-level sport, and conferences
The new system had to meet the everyday educational requirements of AWF while making the hall suitable for top-level sporting events, business meetings, and conferences. Energy efficiency was another major concern for the academy, for both environmental impact and running costs.
The building itself added a further constraint. The hall is under conservation supervision, so the fabric of the building could not be altered. The equipment had to be installed sympathetically, alongside sensitive acoustic adaptations to the walls and ceiling.
The solution
17 loudspeakers, one amplifier, and complete software control
At the heart of the system is a Dynacord IPX10:8 amplifier. Its 8 channels share a total power capacity of 10 kW, with up to 2,000 watts per channel, and the powerful onboard DSP eliminates the need for additional processors. That single amplifier drives 17 Electro-Voice EVC-1152-64B loudspeakers as the main system, suspended on frames Shadock AV created especially for this project to set the appropriate angles for even coverage around the entire hall.
SONICUE Sound System Software was used to set up the system during installation and now gives the AWF team user-friendly control and monitoring, with every tool for configuration, tuning, and operation accessible from the amplifier itself. Thanks to ecoRAIL technology, the IPX10:8 can reduce power consumption by up to 50%, saving on energy costs and helping the academy reduce its environmental impact.

The upgrade leaves AWF with a fully modernized sports hall. The zoned system delivers clear, even sound and is fully controllable: it stays out of the players' way during games, helps fans follow the event, and lets the academy host large sporting, cultural, or conference events.
The gains extend beyond sound. With ecoRAIL reducing power consumption by up to 50%, the system lowers energy costs and environmental impact, all without altering the fabric of the protected building.
