Uneven coverage across the room
Phase issues and limited stereo imaging
Sightline problems near the stage
Feedback and EQ challenges
No easy control from the mix position
Great sound is how people connect
Sound is how a performer reaches the back row, how a presenter is understood, how a worship leader speaks to a whole community, and how a venue turns a room full of people into one shared experience.
When the sound is right, the moment works — and the technology disappears. When we solve problems like these:
The result is simple: people hear the message, the music supports the moment, and the technology stays out of the way.
What Electro-Voice helps you do
Real outcomes, not just specs.
Decades of engineering, in service of your sound
Electro-Voice has built microphones and loudspeakers for the world's stages, venues and houses of worship since 1927. That experience shows up where it counts for you: clear, powerful sound, road-tested reliability, and real-world application knowledge — at a price that keeps professional audio within reach.
Professional audio heritage
1963 — Cardiline shotgun microphone
A legacy of sound innovation
Electro-Voice began in 1927 as a small radio-repair shop in South Bend, Indiana, and took its name after building a public-address system for Notre Dame coach Knute Rockne — who called it his “electric voice.” From the famously rugged 664 microphone to an Academy Award–winning shotgun mic, EV has spent nearly a century making sound that performs under pressure.
In 1927, Lou Burroughs and Al Kahn started a radio-repair business that, by 1930, was building microphones and had been renamed Electro-Voice.
The company moved to Buchanan, Michigan in 1946 and expanded into loudspeakers for the new world of high-fidelity listening. Its rugged 664 dynamic microphone earned the nickname “the Buchanan Hammer,” and in 1963 EV won an Academy Award for its Cardiline shotgun microphone.
Today, Electro-Voice is a global professional-audio brand trusted for sound reinforcement and installed sound — from touring rigs to permanent installations.
Complete sound, from source to audience
Electro-Voice loudspeakers and microphones are often powered and shaped by Dynacord amplification, processing and control — so you can build a complete sound solution that performs as one, from the first input to the last row.
