A concert hall, a studio, and 9,000 square meters of offices
Cavatina Hall stands in Bielsko-Biała, a historic city in the Beskidy mountains of southern Poland. The six-story building counts over 9,000 square meters of office space, a recording studio, a chamber music room, and a 1,000-capacity concert hall. Owned by Polish development company Cavatina, it is the first privately owned and funded concert hall in Poland.
A building this varied has no single audience. The public address system had to reach every area and stay flexible enough to serve office workers and theatregoers alike. Audio Plus, the company responsible for coordinating and co-designing the system, turned to the extensive Electro-Voice and Dynacord portfolio.
Reach office workers and theatregoers from one system
One system had to carry public address across offices, a recording studio, a chamber music room, and the main concert hall. Each area has its own needs, and the technology had to fit the innovative aesthetic of the multi-functional building.
Onstage communication added a further requirement. The stage manager or event director needed a way to address performers during rehearsals, with speech that stays intelligible and hardware that stays out of sight.
Dynacord at the core, EVID fitted to every location
The heart of the system is Dynacord electronics: an MXE5 Matrix Mix Engine alongside an IPX10:8 power amplifier. IPX multi-channel amplifiers are dedicated to fixed installations and carry Dynacord's variable load drive (VLD) technology, so each of the 8 channels can drive Low-Z or High-Z 70V/100V loudspeakers without an output transformer. Dante and OCA connectivity via OMNEO network inputs ties the system together, and SONICUE Sound System Software gives full control of signal routing and signal processing for the public address speakers.
The Dynacord electronics drive a large 100V Electro-Voice loudspeaker system combining the EVID ceiling and surface-mount ranges, each piece fitted exactly for its location. In the main auditorium, a pair of Electro-Voice FM6.2 speakers sits hidden behind the wooden sound panels either side of the stage, linked to the RTS intercom system so the stage manager or event director can address performers through an Electro-Voice wireless mic. Onstage, Electro-Voice microphones cover a wide range of vocal and instrumental needs, from RE97Tx micro-headworn condensers to ND44, ND46, and ND66 instrument mics, plus the iconic RE20 and RE320 Variable-D models.

“The IPX 10:8 is at the core of the sound system – we wanted something that was technically optimal in terms of control and this amp allows each channel to be individually operated, along with analog inputs from Dante and OCA via OMNEO network inputs – it’s a highly flexible solution for us.”
Every area connected, every channel under control
Cavatina Hall now runs its public address from one supervised platform, with full control of signal routing and processing through SONICUE. The connectivity fits the innovative aesthetic of the multi-functional building, and the hidden onstage system delivers speech Audio Plus describes as super-intelligible from speakers that remain completely invisible.
For the venue, the system is part of the offer. Marcin Smolik, Producer and Managing Director at Cavatina Hall, places the building at the forefront of Europe among the few venues equipped this way: a treat for artists, and a mark of quality for the audience.
