A high-end lounge bar in a crowded market
Club Carpe Diem sits in a premium spot in Kolkata, near some of the best clubs in town. It is a high-end lounge bar with a main room for DJ sets and big-screen sports and event coverage, a mezzanine with theatre-style seating, a private dining room, a chillout area, and bar and dining spaces.
The owners were new to the world of pro audio and had a specific budget in hand. Rather than pick a brand on reputation, they staged an onsite product shootout against a leading competitor's system and let their own ears decide. The Electro-Voice and Dynacord combination won the project.

The challenge
One sonic signature across very different rooms
The sound system a lounge bar chooses creates the sonic signature of the venue and sets the atmosphere for its guests. At Club Carpe Diem that signature had to hold up across challenging acoustics and very different spaces: a lounge and dancefloor, a mezzanine, a private dining room, a chillout area, and the bar and dining areas.
The main room also had to carry DJ sets alongside big-screen sports and event coverage, and the whole system had to land within the owners' budget.
The solution
Electro-Voice in every room, Dynacord power in one rack
Loudspeaker models from the Electro-Voice portfolio were matched to each space. 4 EKX-15 full-range loudspeakers and 2 EVF-2151D subwoofers cover the lounge and dancefloor, 4 ZX1i two-way models serve the mezzanine, and the private dining room pairs 4 EKX-12 loudspeakers with 2 EKX-18S subwoofers. Compact EVID and ZX1i surface-mounted models handle the bar and dining areas, a pair of EVID 6.2 enclosures covers the chillout area, and a ZLX-15P powered loudspeaker works as the DJ booth monitor.
Dynacord L Series two-channel amplifiers power the venue and provide the DSP behind its premium-quality sound. 4 L3600FD amplifiers drive most of the system, with an L1800FD and an L1300FD completing the rack.
