A modern hall built to do more than one thing
Grace Kwangsung Church in Gangdong-gu, Seoul is a newly constructed house of worship hosting services, worship meetings, church events, and concerts, so the room rarely does the same job twice in a week.
That range set the brief. The congregation needed the utmost clarity and uniform coverage during services, while the same rig had to handle community events and full concert sound without compromise.
One sound system to cover it all: speeches, community events, and concerts
One room had to serve four kinds of event without trade-offs. Spoken word demanded high resolution and even coverage; concerts demanded high output; community events demanded flexibility in between.
The hardware also had to stay discreet. Low-profile loudspeakers were needed to keep sightlines open and complement the architecture of the new building.
One networked sound system precicely tuned to the room
The design team ran the room through PREVIEW Loudspeaker Software to select models for optimal coverage, SPL, and frequency response before any cabinet was hung. Six Electro-Voice X1-212/120 line-array loudspeakers and two X12-125F flying subwoofers per side form the main system, with one EVC-1122-VI variable-intensity model for precise center fill.
Four ultracompact EVU-1082/95 and eight FRI-2082 loudspeakers cover the over and under balcony areas. Dynacord IPX10:8 and TGX-series amplifiers drive the system, and SONICUE Sound System Software handles monitoring and control from a single point.

“The X1 arrays are a solution we can trust to provide coverage from the front to the back of the hall. We didn't even use processing at first and it already sounded fantastic.”
